Falabellas in the Public Eye by Tammie Cappuccio
Falabellas can be seen from the show ring
to parades and exhibitions. Here are a few examples:
- 8-10 of the Regina Winery horses were used
for public exhibition in the 60's to promote the winery. The known horses
used in the Winery hitch were: Senior (senor), Grenache, Chianti, Regina,
Sherry, Champagne, Barberra, Seniorita & Burgendy.
- Falabellas were the first mini horses
used by the Kilverstone Stud in England for their Zoo exhibit.
- The famous Regina Winery import, Chianti, was
a multi- halter and performance champion for his then owner- Dixie Blasingame.
- Little Man was once an attraction at the Oklahoma
Zoo.
- Gettysburg Miniature Horse Farm (now known as
Land of Little Horses) has been using the Falabella in their mini horse
program for the public since 1971.
- Flaby's El Tigre, Falabella import, and Grosshill's
El Rey were both AMHA National top ten Senior Stallions.
- C Spots Miniature Horses has used their Falabellas
in shows, parades, fairs and exhibitions since 1994.
- Falabellas from Strong's Miniature Horse farm
were filmed in 1998 for Pet Project, a LIFE TV network and the segment
has been broadcast several times.
- Kristina, a Falabella mare from the Land of
Little Horses with a talent for counting, traveled to Hollywood to appear
on the popular TV show "Those Amazing Animals". Kristina was known
as "the horse with the human brain".
Famous people that have owned Falabellas:
- Frank Sinatra, The Kennedy Family, Wayne
Newton, Lord and Lady Fisher, Nelson Rockafeller, Aga Khan.
